Folk Tale

This week for reading, I read a folk tale called the 'The Empty Pot'.
A folk tale is a story that has been told for generations and has a moral to it.
The Empty Pot is a folk tale about telling the truth.

In china there was a boy named Ping, Ping loved flowers. Anything and everything he planted would grow and blossom and turn into beautiful masterpieces even big fruit trees. Everyone in the kingdom loved flowers too they planted them everywhere and the air smelt like perfume. The emperor loved birds and animals but flowers were a whole other story, he tended his own garden everyday but the emperor is old and he has to pass it on to someone else. Ping set up a contest for who grows the best flowers out of the seed he gave them. They all came with big flowers but one guy came with an Empty Pot and the emperor said "why do you have an empty pot?" and the kid said "i tried and tried but the seed wouldn't grow so i'm sorry" "everybody i have found the new emperor!" shouted the emperor "huh? but i'm the only one without a flower" said the kid "and that is why, see i gave everyone a cooked seed so it's not meant to grow you are the only one that told the truth everyone else swapped the seeds!"
